The Community Garden is now entering its 3rd year with "growing" results! If you would like to join our Community Garden, please click here to download an application. All applications entered will be put in a lottery for the twenty plots established in the garden.  Lottery winners will be notified the following week.  Please call 465-4075 for more information.

ST. PAUL’S SENIOR CENTER HOURS

 St. Paul’s Senior Center is open and again running programs for Seniors to enjoy!  The Center is open from 9 am to 4 pm, Mondays through Fridays, for senior individuals to either participate in the programs offered or to just sit, relax and enjoy the setting.  We offer the following weekly classes:

Mondays                                        9:15 am Exercise with Felicia, including stretching to music in chairs

                                                          10:30 am Exercise with Felicia

                                                          11:45 am  Bingo!

Wednesdays                                  9:15 am Exercise with Felicia, including stretching to music in chairs

Special Upcoming Events in the Center

 
Computer Class on Internet for Beginners now Registering

Our last senior computer class for the season will take place at the Golf Club Lane Senior Center on Tuesday, May 7th.  This class is called Computer 1st Grade for Grownups™.  In this class, you will learn how to work with text including inputting, inserting, moving, and erasing, learn basic word processing skills, and understand files and commands. Prerequisites: participants should have attended other classes we have offered.  To register for this free class, please call us at 465-4075 or visit our office at 108 Rockaway Ave.


SPRING INTO SUMMER LUNCHEON

 The Recreation Department, with the help of the Senior Advisory Committee, will hold a “Spring into Summer” Lucheon at St. Paul’s on Thursday, May 23 at noon.  The cost to attend this luncheon will be $5 and preregistration with payment is necessary to attend.  Please visit the Recreation Office at 108 Rockaway Avenue to register for this event!

 

 REGISTRATION BEGINS FOR SENIOR TRIPS

 

The Recreation Department will sponsor the following trips for seniors who are residents of the Inc. Village of Garden City during the upcoming months:

  

 

 Wednesday, May 1

Trip to Westbury Manor for lunch and a showing of “Nunsense II”.  The bus will leave St. Paul’s Senior Center at 11:15 am and return to the Senior Center when the concert is over.  The cost of a ticket is $25, payable by check only to Plaza Theatrical Productions, at the time of registration. This trip is subsidized by the Recreation Department. This trip is now filled.

Wednesday, June 5 – Trip to Brotherhood Winery for tastings and lunch.  We will travel upstate by coach bus to the Brotherhood Winery where we will take a tour of the winery, do a wine tasting, and have a wonderful lunch.  The bus will leave St. Paul’s Senior Center around 8 am and return around 5 pm.  The cost of this trip will be $36, payable by check only to Brotherhood Winery at the time of registration. 

Thursday, June 20 – Trip to Clark Botanical Gardens (raindate, Friday, June 21).  We will take the Recreation bus to the Gardens for a presentation by the Head Horticulturist, a light tea, and a garden stroll.  We will then return home.  The Gardens will be beautiful this time of year!  The cost of this trip will be $10, payable in cash, at the time of registration.

Wednesday, August 14 – Trip to Westbury Manor for lunch and a showing of “My Way” a Frank Sinatra tribute. The bus will leave St. Paul’s Senior Center at 11:15 am and return to the Senior Center when the concert is over.  The cost of a ticket is $25, payable by check only to Plaza Theatrical Productions, at the time of registration. This trip is subsidized by the Recreation Department.

Friday, October 11 – Trip to the Culinary Institute in Hyde Park.  We will have a tour and lunch at the world renowned university and enjoy the fall foliage on the way!  Details as to time will be decided soon but if you want to attend this trip, come in and register!  The cost of this trip will be $40 with a $25 non-refundable deposit due at the time of registration in a check made payable to The Culinary Institute.
