The Garden City Department of Recreation and Parks takes great pride in our mission of "Enhancing the lives of residents, serving as stewards of Village resources, and fostering a sense of community by providing diverse and valued parks, open space recreational facilities and programs". Within this web-site you will find information about our facilities and programs, including our "Virtual Recreation Center", which is filled with activities and games for residents of all ages, as well as virtual tours of popular destinations.
Garden City's reputation for beautiful tree-lined streets is known throughout the nation. Each year, over 100 new trees are planted and hundreds are pruned. In addition, approximately 45,000 flower bulbs are planted annually during the Spring for a kaleidoscope of color in over 40 different locations. The Recreation and Parks Department also cares for all Village-owned parkland and malls. Maintenance includes cutting grass, weeding, collecting leaves, cultivating shrubs and the general policing of these areas. The Department also has mobile watering tanks, which keep the Village's plantings and hanging baskets in the business sections vibrant during the hot summer months.
So please, come in and explore all that our Department has to offer you and your family. Should you desire additional information, or wish to enroll in our programs, please call our office at (516)-465-4075 and our staff will be more than happy to assist you.
