These rules are designed for the safety, comfort and convenience of all our Members, and will be amended or supplemented during the season as may be necessary by the Pool Management. Pool Attendants, Lifeguards, Supervisors and Managers are required to enforce all regulations. Please cooperate with them at all times.
Disciplinary action, including suspension or revocation of season passes, may be taken as a result of not following these rules. These disciplinary actions will be at the discretion of senior Pool Staff and the Recreation Commission.
1. All members must be in possession of a valid membership card and carry it with them to access the pool. If a member forgets their card, they must report to the pool office to verify their membership and receive pass for entry.
2. Guests MUST be accompanied by the resident(s) who signed them in at all times.
3. The maximum height for the zero entry splash, play area, and the "interactive" apparatus at the ‘kiddy pool’ is 50 inches. PARENTS OR GUARDIANS ARE RESPONSIBLE FOR THE SUPERVISION OF THEIR CHILDREN USING THESE FACILITIES AND CHILDREN MUST BE ACCOMPANIED AT ALL TIMES!
4. Only people without shoes, dressed in appropriate bathing attire are permitted on the lower decks around the pools and in the water. Inappropriate bathing attire is prohibited (gym shorts, cut offs, etc). Bathing attire should be in keeping with the family atmosphere of the pool.
5. Use of the water slide is restricted to individuals 42 inches or taller. Only one person at a time will be permitted on the water slides. Once on the slides, all individuals must enter the water feet first, with backs to the slide. No head first sliding is permitted. USE OF SLIDES IS AT YOUR OWN RISK.
6. General use of Pool 2, including the chaise lounges tables and chairs adjacent to Pool 2, is restricted to adults 18 years of age and older, with the exception of the 7-foot end, which is restricted to ages 16 and older for lap swimming or for sanctioned swim lessons.
7. Children under the age of eight (8) must be accompanied by an adult at all times while in the Pool facility. After 6 p.m., children 12 and under must be accompanied by an adult. To attend movie nights, an adult must accompany all children 12 and under.
8. Children 7 years of age and older must use gender appropriate bathrooms. Anyone under 7 years of age must be accompanied by an adult.
9. Food, drink, or gum is not permitted on the lower decks around the Pools. Eating and drinking is only permitted in the picnic area, snack bar areas, and upper deck areas.
10. Alcoholic beverages shall not be brought into the Pool complex at any point. Beer and wine may be purchased at the Snack Bar and only consumed in the Snack Bar and Picnic Area during the designated times and days established by the Garden City Recreation and Parks Department.
11. Smoking, vaping and the use of electronic cigarettes is not permitted anywhere inside the pool area. Smoking is permitted in the parking lot at least fifty feet from the main lobby area.
12. All children who wear diapers must wear swim diapers in the pool, without exception.
13. Changing of baby diapers is only permitted in designated changing areas, which are located in both the men’s and women’s changing areas as well as the family bathroom located by the women's changing area and in the game room.
14. All swimmers must take a soap and water shower before entering any Pool.
15. Bathers wishing to wear t-shirts in the water may do so, providing that the t-shirt is made from an appropriate swim material. Burkinis, SPF clothing and material made with lycra/spandex is permitted for religious purposes and/or sun protection only.
16. People with skin lesions, inflamed eyes, mouth, nose, or ear discharges; or wearing any type of bandage shall not be permitted to use the Pool.
17. Use of any type of flotation devices or swimming aids are not permitted in any of the pools. Use of swimming or diving gadgets such as masks, snorkels, or flippers are not permitted. Swim goggles are permitted. Eyeglasses worn in the pools must be secured with a safety strap. No toys are permitted in the pools.
18. There is no diving permitted in any of the pools.
19. Deck areas must be kept clear of obstructions and objects which could injure patrons in bare feet. Strollers, baby carriages, etc. are permitted only in the wading pool area, on the North side of Pool 1, on the West side of Pool 1 to the end of the shade structure, and on the upper level adjacent to the men’s and women’s rooms, picnic area and snack bar.
20. Unoccupied lounges, chairs and tables may not be reserved by leaving clothes or towels on them. One member may not reserve lounges, chairs or tables for another member. Personal belongings left unaccompanied for more than 1 hour will be taken to the pool office by senior pool staff.
21. Running, pushing, use of profane language, or any behavior causing annoyance or danger to others is prohibited. Cell Phones should be set to silence or vibrate mode and use of cell phones should be discreet and not cause a disturbance to other patrons.
22. Ball playing is only allowed in designated areas.
23. No person may conduct any aquatic activity, or classes during Pool hours or at any other time without written consent from the Recreation Department.
24. To avoid damage to both turf and sprinkler heads, chairs and chaise lounges are not to be placed on any grass areas in the Pool complex.
25. Use of personal umbrellas, shade attachments, chairs or lounge chairs is strictly prohibited at the Pool
26. The Village of Garden City is not responsible for articles lost at the Pool. Do not bring valuables such as jewelry, wallets, or other items of value to the Pool.
