Pickleball is a fast growing sport around the country and Garden City Recreation and Parks is happy to announce that we have joined in on the fun!
Pickleball News!
The Recreation Department is pleased to announce that there are 2 pickleball courts at all of our local parks, Edgemere, Nassau Haven, Tullamore, Hemlock, and Grove Parks. Due to the increasing popularity of Pickleball, the eastern tennis court at Grove Park has been converted to two Pickleball courts. The tennis court closest to Grove Street will remain open for tennis, so residents will have the ability to play either one of these popular sports. Courts are available on a first come, first serve basis, and there is no charge to use these courts.
St. Paul's Fieldhouse Adult Pickleball Program
Pickleball will begin again in St. Paul's Fieldhouse on Tuesday, October 10th. This program is open to Garden City residents only, the schedule is as follows:
- Tuesdays through Fridays 9:30 to Noon.
- Friday nights - 5:30 to 8:30pm
- Sunday mornings - 9:30- 11:45am Ended 3/17/24
Each session will consist of open play, where everyone attending will round robin in to play. There will be no reserving of courts for individual play. A monitor will be available for any person wishing to learn the game. The fee to attend is as follows:
10 Play Pass – good for any $50
Fieldhouse sport for 10 visits
5 Play Pass – good for any $25
Fieldhouse sport for 5 visits
A participant may also “pay as you go” but payment will only be accepted by check, credit card (except American Express), and EXACT CHANGE IS ACCEPTED. “Pay as you go” prices will be $6. Passes may be purchased at the fieldhouse when arriving for your sport or you may come into the Recreation Office at 108 Rockaway Ave.
