Pool Sports & Activities
Swim Lessons
Once again, a wide range of classes will be offered for our young members. Classes are held in three, two week sessions. Lessons are held Tuesday through Friday, rain or shine. A child must be 6 years old by September 7, 2026 to participate in swim lessons.
Swim Lessons must registered in person at the Recreation Office or Pool Office. You MUST be a Pool member to register for swim lessons.
Parent and Me Swim
Garden City Recreation have teamed up with Grateful Kid Clubs for a fun and engaging 6-session Parent & Me Swim program exclusively for Garden City Community Park Pool members! This interactive class is designed for children ages 1–3 years and their caregiver to build water confidence, learn foundational swim skills, and enjoy quality bonding time together. Through songs, games, and age-appropriate activities, little ones will become more comfortable in the water while parents learn safe and effective ways to support their child’s aquatic development. Come make lasting memories, build confidence, and have fun making a splash together!
Please note: This program is open exclusively to current Garden City Community Park Pool members. Thursdays @ 11:10am starting July 9th. Limited spaces available!
Special Needs Swim Lessons
We are happy to announce that we will be able to offer Special Needs Swim Lessons through Sunsational Swim School. Pool members with special needs will be able to book lessons directly through Sunsational Swim School and use the Garden City Pool to conduct your lesson. All bookings, pricing and lesson requirements will be coordinated directly between the member and Sunsational Swim School and Garden City Pool will offer space in our main pool for the lesson. Lessons can only be booked at 11:10am for a maximum of one hour, Tuesday - Friday from July 7th until August 14th. You MUST inform the Pool Office once you have booked any lessons.
Please note: This program is open exclusively to current Garden City Community Park Pool members. If members wish to use a company other than Sunsational Swim School they should contact the Pool Office directly.
Swim Team
The Garden City Pool sponsors a summer swim team that competes in the Nassau Municipal Swim Conference against other local municipal pools. All GC Pool members ages 6-16 as of June 1, 2026, are eligible to try out for our team. Prospective swimmers must be pool members before their tryout date.
Early Bird Swim Club
Start your day off on a positive note with an invigorating and relaxing swim in the tranquility of the Pool in early morning. Membership in our Early Bird Swim Club entitles you to swim in Pool #2 between 6:00 and 8:00am seven days per week from June 27th through Labor Day. Club Membership is available to all Pool Members, costs $80, and may be purchased in the Pool Office during normal Office Hours beginning on June 10th.
Aqua Aerobics
We are delighted to announce that, for 2026, we will be introducing a new Aqua Aerobics class that will be free to members. Taking place on Wednesday mornings in Pool #2, the class will last approximately 50 minutes and equipment for the class will be provided by the Recreation Department. The regular classes will start on Wednesday, July 1st at 11am, with an intro class to be held on Monday, June 29th.
