Registration for our Youth Spring Tennis Lessons will begin Friday, March 13! Classes will begin the week of March 31st. Remember, Tennis is truly a sport for a lifetime!
Back by popular demand is our Learn and Play Platform Tennis lessons at the Community Park Platform Tennis Courts. This year we will be offering beginner and advance beginner level adult classes on Mondays. This six week course will offer the basic and intermediate instruction and will be taught by our certified platform instructor Sue Tarzian. Residents can choice between our morning session from 10-11:30am and our evening session 7-8:30pm. Both programs will begin Monday March 30th and cost $240.

Pickleball, despite its quirky name, is one of the fastest growing sports in America and is played by millions of people of all ages and skill levels. Pickleball is a combination of badminton, ping-pong and tennis. Players use a paddle similar to a ping pong paddle but larger and a whiffle-type ball with holes covering the entire surface. Pickleball can be played as singles or doubles, just like tennis. The court is the same size as a badminton court. Pickleball is a lot of fun and truly a game for all ages and skill levels.

Please note: Do you just want to go out and play some pickleball. The pickleball courts are also available for open play on a drop in basis on Mondays, Tuesdays, Wednesdays, Fridays from 10:15am to 12noon and 12:15pm to 2pm $6 per person/per session. Equipment will be provided.
Note: We will offer some Saturday and Sunday dates for open play, youth and adult lesson programs and possibly a just for fun tournament in March and April. These days/dates will be announced soon.

The Garden City Recreation & Parks Department will once again offer various roller hockey programs this spring for residents of the Inc. Village of Garden City from Kindergarten thru 6th grade. Whether you played in the past or looking to get involved, there is no better time to sign up and experience all the fun. All programs take place at the roller rink located at Community Park. PLEASE PAY CAREFUL ATTENTION AS OUR OFFERINGS ARE SLIGHTLY DIFFERENT WITH NEW DAYS, DIVISION NAMES & TIMES OFFERED THEN IN THE PAST.
Each participant is required to wear full equipment at all times. This includes hockey helmet with a cage, hockey gloves, shin pads, elbow pads, roller blades, hockey stick, long pants, and a protective cup.
A description of each program we will offer is as follows:
PEE WEE BEGINNER CLINIC: (Open to Kindergarten & 1st Grade) No experience is required in hockey or roller skating. This hour long clinic will introduce the sport of roller hockey and all the basic fundamentals in a fun & safe environment. The program will take place Monday’s at 3:45 P.M. beginning March 16th at a cost of $105.00.
SQUIRTS BEGINNER + CLINIC: (Open to Kindergarten & 1st Clinic) This beginner program will continue to develop our young players through drills and scrimmages. This hour-long program will take place Monday early evenings at 5:00PM beginning March 16that a cost of $105.
2nd and 3rd GRADE (MITES DIVISION): Games will take place on Friday afternoons with either a 3:45PM or 5:00PM game time depending on your child’s team schedule. Season begins on March 20th at a cost of $105.
4th, & 5th, & 6th GRADE (JUNIOR DIVISION): Games will take place on Friday evenings with either a 6:15 PM or 7:30PM game time depending on your child’s team schedule. Season begins on March 20th at a cost of $105.00.
Adult Program: This program will be open to residents of the Village of Garden City ages 30 & over according to the following schedule: Mondays beginning March 16th. Game time is 8:30 p.m. Cost of $90.

Application packets for the Garden City Department of Recreation and Parks’ 2020 Men’s Softball League are now available online at https://gardencityrecreation.org/adult-softball. Games will be played Monday through Thursday nights at 8:15 and 9:30 p.m.. The league fee is $600 per team for an 8 game season plus possible playoff games. Openings are limited. Some teams may need additional players. If you are interested in playing, but don’t have a team please let us know and we will do our best to find a team spot for you. Registration is underway for the US Sports Institute spring and summer programs. Spring programs include Parent and Me Soccer, Squirts Soccer, Multi Sport, T-Ball, Lacrosse and so much more for residents ages 2-7. Summer programs are for residents ages 5-14 of all abilities and include Soccer, Multi-Sports, Lacrosse, Field Hockey, Golf and much more! For more information and to register please visit:
The Garden City Recreation Department will offer our poplar Pee-Wee Sports Sampler program this winter for children ages 4 & 5 who are Residents of the Inc. Village of Garden City. This six week program has been designed to provide an opportunity to try a wide variety of sports with basic instruction.
This program will take place in St. Paul’s Fieldhouse beginning the week of March 16 and each session will run for 55 minutes. Our Sampler will incorporate new skills and free play in a non-competitive atmosphere. A different sport will be offered each week. Classes will be held according to the following schedule:
Mondays 1:30 to 2:25 pm
Tuesdays 11 to 11:55 am
Tuesdays 1:30 to 2:25 pm
Fridays 1:30 to 2:25 pm
The cost of this program is $100.

On Sunday afternoons beginning January 12th the St. Paul's Field House will be open for "Family Fun" for Village families. This open time provides the opportunity for families to enjoy various gym activities in an indoor environment. The gym will be available for use from 2:45 to 5:45pm each Sunday until March 8.
this time is designated for family time only. No organized practices or workouts will be allowed. Although there will be staff to monitor activity, this is not a drop off program. We ask the elementary aged children to be accompanied by an adult. For the safety of our users, no lacrosse or baseball equipment, or any other sport involving stick equipment will be allowed.
Garden City Recreation and Parks again will sponsor “Bricks4Kidz” Legos on Thursdays beginning February 27th for grades 1 to 4.Classes are held from 4:00-5:00pm at the St. Paul’s Center in one hour sessions for 6 weeks and registration is limited to 12 children.
The cost of this class is $135 per person, checks only.
“Bricks4Kidz”classes build on the popular LEGO bricks to deliver high-quality educational play. Each hour-long class is an engaging experience for your child with a new project each week.
It's a zoo in here! Join us for a 6 week session building models of amazing animals. Each week we’ll discuss fascinating facts about the animals we build, from the chameleon that changes colors to the seal model that waddles across the table.
