February Break Gym Program

During the February Break, the Garden City Recreation Department will offer a gym program for children at the St. Paul's Field House form Tuesday, February 20th to Friday, February 23th.  This program is open to youngsters of the Village of Garden City only.


The schedule for these programs will be as follows:

K and 1st grade - 9 - 10:30am

2nd and 3rd grades - 10:30am to Noon

4th, 5th and 6th grades - Noon to 2pm


For grades 7 to 12 grades

The Fieldhouse will be open for supervised open play from 2 to 6pm

Mad Science

We are proud to once again present MAD SCIENCE of LONG ISLAND after school enrichment program.  The program will have various of workshop topics that will be highlighted in the brochure below.  The 6 week program will take place on Mondays and are open to residents in Grades K-4.

Crayola Artist's Passport

Embark on an around-the-world cultural adventure - explore  far-off places and learn about the people who live there, from the Americas to Polynesia, from the cosmopolitan to the countryside. Experiment with Crayola® products, while trying art techniques developed by local artists and artisans. Make different masterpieces each week such as drums, masks, canvases, gift bags, buses, and more!  

Pee Wee Sports Sampler for Children 4 & 5 Years Old

The Garden City Recreation Department will offer our poplar Pee-Wee Sports Sampler program this winter for children ages 4 & 5 who are Residents of the Inc. Village of Garden City. This program has been designed to provide the child with an opportunity to try a wide variety of sports with basic instruction.

This program will take place at St. Paul’s Fieldhouse beginning the week of February 5th and will run for 55 minutes for six weeks.

Registration for Adult Pastel Class with Arleen Underway

Beginning February 23rd, the Recreation Department will again offer an adult pastel class taught by Arleen Ruth Urban. This class is open to adult residents of the Inc. Village of Garden City. Our classes will be held from 9:00 a.m. to 11:30 a.m. each Friday in Cluett Hall at St. Paul’s. The cost of the 10 week program will be $140 (Supplies are brought on your own - a supply list will be handed out at the first class).

This program will teach the beginner as well as advanced student the art of painting portraits and landscapes / still-life in pastels from photographs.

“Zumba Gold” Fitness Classes for the Active Senior or Beginner

Our Thursday session of our “Zumba Gold” fitness will be held in on Thursday afternoons at 2:15 pm at The Senior Center. Each 45 minute class, teaching the basics of “Zumba” exercise, is led by Felicia Lovaglio, our certified “Zumba” exercise instructor. This class is geared for seniors or the beginner adult.   

Adult Yoga

Connie McKnight, our certified yoga instructor, has designed adult yoga classes with all ages in mind. Our yoga class will be offered on Wednesday mornings at 9 am at the Senior Center on Golf Club Lane. This 10 week program will begin on Wednesday, March 7th.  

Adult Roller Hockey

The Garden City Recreation & Parks Department will offer its roller hockey program at Community Park this spring. This program will be open to residents of the Village of Garden City ages 30 & over.

Youth Roller Hockey

The Garden City Recreation & Parks Department will offer its roller hockey program at Community Park this spring. This program will be open to residents of the Village of Garden City in Kindergarten through 9th grade.
