In an effort to expedite the completion of the new heating system at the Community Park Tennis Center the facility will be closed beginning Friday, January 18th through Saturday, January 26th. All contract tennis time and lesson programs during this time are cancelled and will be made up later in the season. If the work is completed sooner the facility will reopen and you will be notified accordingly. We apologize for this inconvenience.
Garden City Recreation and Parks is offering “Mad Science” for grades K – 3. This fun after school program is hands-on and interactive and is sure to spark the imagination of the children involved.
Classes will be held on Tuesdays from 4 to 5 pm beginning January 29th. Each class is one hour long and will be held in the St. Paul’s Center at 108 Rockaway Ave. The cost for this program will be $140, checks only, made payable to “Mad Science of Long Island”. Space is limited! Our Dance Company’s Adult Performance Group will begin on Thursday, January 24th. Classes are held each Thursday in St. Paul’s Cluett Hall from 8 to 9 pm. Anyone who is interested in learning ballet, jazz, and hip hop can join this group. The group practices each week and learns choreographed routines that will be performed in our annual showcase. Connie McKnight, our certified yoga instructor, has designed youth yoga classes for ages 6 - 18. Each class in our ten week session is 55 minutes long. All classes will begin on January 17th and will be held in St. Paul’s Center. Any resident of the Inc. Village of Garden City in this age group is invited to join these relaxing classes.
We are pleased to announce the start of registration for our winter Tennis Program for children at the Community Park Tennis Center. Registration forms and class time/days are available for download below. Non resident children attending Garden City Public Schools will be accepted beginning December 28. Make checks payable to the “Inc. Village of Garden City”. Mail the registration slip and registration fee to the Recreation Dept. at 108 Rockaway Avenue. You may also walk in or register online if you have a password on our website at www.gcreconline.gardencityny.net.

Registration is underway for the US Sports Institute Parent and Me Soccer Squirts and Squirts Soccer program. The Parent and Me Soccer Squirts program (ages 2 to 3) allows parents to participate with their kids while learning the fundamental skills of soccer through fun activities and games. The Squirts Soccer program (ages 3 to 5) is the perfect introduction to the most popular sport in the world! Learn the basics of soccer including dribbling, passing shooting and boundaries.

The Garden City Recreation Department will once again offer our after school programs for the young residents of the Inc. Village of Garden City. These programs happen after school in the St. Paul's Fieldhouse. Our programs are designed for children grades K-1 and grades 2-6. We will once again be offering the popular Bricks 4 Kidz. This program will take place Wednesday afternoons from 4-5pm beginning January 16th. Bricks4Kidz classes build on the popular LEGO bricks to deliver high-quality educational play. Each hour-long class is an engaging experience for your child with a new project each week. Our unique models aren’t the kits you find on the shelves of a toy store. They’re designed by Bricks4Kidz to teach concepts across a variety of subject areas. The program is designed for residents in grades 1-4.
Garden City Recreation and Parks is pleased to offer “Crayola” World of Design Art for grades K – 3. This after school enrichment program affords your child the opportunity to use their imagination while being introduced to various art techniques.

Family Time Sundays are underway at the St. Paul's Field House. The field house will be open for "Family Fun" for Village families. This open time provides the opportunity for families to enjoy various gym activities in an indoor environment. Practices are not permitted during this time and children must be accompanied by an adult. The gym will be available for use from 2:30 to 5:30 p.m. each Sunday until March 10.
Garden City Recreation and Parks is pleased to offer beginner Mah Jongg lessons to our seniors. This eight week course will cover the basics of the game. It will meet every Monday from 12:15 pm to 2:15 pm beginning Monday, February 4th. The cost of this eight week class will be $80 and space is limited.
The Garden City Recreation Department will offer our poplar Pee-Wee Sports Sampler program this winter for children ages 4 & 5 who are Residents of the Inc. Village of Garden City. We are offering 2 – three week sessions for the children to get a taste of the program. This program has been designed to provide an opportunity to try a wide variety of sports with basic instruction.
